Ghostbusters is one of the most popular franchises of all time. It started with a hit film in the 1980s that led to a sequel and several cartoons that aired on television. Those cartoons continued the adventures from the films and introduced Slimer to a new generation. A new film inspired by the original feature the surviving actors from the two films and followed four women as they came together to hunt ghosts. There are plans for a new film that will follow the original two from the 80s that will also feature both the characters and the actors from those movies.
If you’re a fan of the Ghostbusters franchise, you can add a few LEGO sets to your collection. These sets come with adorable minifigs of Slimer and all your other favorite characters and let you reenact some of your favorite scenes too. Not only can you build a replica of the Ecto-1 car from the original films, but you can build a version of the vehicle used in the new film and even create a fire station for your minifigs. It’s easy to build those sets and figures when you bring home some of the best LEGO Ghostbusters sets and minifigs.
Fans of the newer Ghostbusters film will get a kick out of this set, which comes with bricks for building both the Ecto-1 vehicle that the characters drive and the Ecto-2 motorcycle driven by Kevin, their office manager. This bike has an attachment point for the Kevin minifig and a box that snaps onto the back for storage. It also features working wheels and a license plate that displays the Ecto-2 name. The Kevin minifig wears his costume from the film as well as his dark glasses.
The biggest feature of this kit is the Ecto-1. Used by a funeral home to transport bodies, it now functions as a vehicle that helps the Ghostbusters get around town. This LEGO version has the Ghostbusters logo on the side, four working tires and four working doors. You can open those doors to place the minifigs inside. The vehicle also comes with a ladder that attaches to the side, a back door that opens for storage access and a license plate that says Ecto-1. Abby, Erin, Kate and Jillian all get minifigs that resemble their characters from the film, but the set also comes with a Mayhem figure.
All the films and other media in the Ghostbusters series include a firehouse setting. This is where they live and work when they’re not on the streets and hunting ghosts. Thanks to LEGO, you can now build a replica of the original firehouse. This set was so popular when first released that it quickly sold out but is now back in stock and ready for you to bring home. Not only is this the largest Ghostbusters LEGO set, but it’s also one of the best gifts for Ghostbusters adult and teenage fans.
This is a set that you need to see to believe. It features enough LEGO bricks to build a three-story firehouse that looks just like the one from the film. You can keep it closed to protect all the minifigs or open the sides to reveal multiple scenes inside. You’ll find a lobby on the bottom floor where they answer phones, a bathroom with ectoplasm LEGO bricks on the floor, multiple lab areas and a working fire pole. LEGO also added nine minifigs, including the four original Ghostbusters, Janine and Louis, Dana, Slimer and a few ghosts to decorate the interior.
Though not made by LEGO, this set can appeal to LEGO and construction fans as well as those who like building toys. Playmobil made this set to let you recreate the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from the original films. As some of the parts are quite small, this set is not recommended for kids under the age of three and best for those who are six or older. You get to build a Marshmallow Man with one arm that rotates back and forth and another that you can lift and lower. It has flat feet that keep the figure from toppling over too.
Also included is a smaller figure of Ray Stantz. When placed next to the Marshmallow Man, the height difference between the two matches when you see on a screen. This figure comes with goggles that protect his eyes from ectoplasm and fun accessories that he holds in each hand. Both of these figures have movable heads too. Designed to work with other Ghostbusters sets from Playmobil, it comes with four free episodes of the cartoon series The Real Ghostbusters from the 1990s. You can go online and enter a code to watch those episodes.
If you like the look of LEGO sets but don’t have a lot of free time, consider the Brick Headz series. Not only does this set let you build beloved LEGO figures in less time, but it comes with the bricks that let you build two of the top characters from the series. The box shows that Peter Venkman is number 62 and that Slimer is number 63. You can round out your collection with other sets that let you build the remaining Ghostbusters characters in 3D.
Peter is one of the cutest figures around. He comes with bright green ectoplasm dripping down his head to mimic the scenes from the film when Slimer attacks him. The figure also comes with a proton pack that attaches to his back. To recreate the fun look of Slimer, LEGO included a brick hot dog that the ghost can hold in one hand. Each figure stands more than two inches tall when fully assembled. The box comes with two stands that have fit beneath the figures to support them too. Slimer’s stand has a clear box on the top that makes it look as if he’s floating in the air like a real ghost.
One of the hardest parts about being a LEGO collector is that you can’t always find the minifigs that you want. Many sets come with minifigs that are unique to those sets and not available anywhere else. If you lose one, the value of the set will drop. That is why LEGO offers some minifigs that you can purchase separately without buying a full set such as this Marshmallow Man minifig. You can use this to add an extra special touch to another set or as a display piece in your home.
Designed to match the iconic look of the ghostly creature from the franchise, this minifig comes dressed in the classic sailor costume that uses shades of red, white and blue. He even has a white hat trimmed in blue with a red tassel perched jauntily on his head. Standing close to two inches tall, this minifig is too small for young kids and only suitable for those who are at least three. The minifig comes in a small plastic bag that lets you see the figure inside. It’s a great addition to a Ghostbusters collection and a fun gift for a fan of the franchise.
Get ready to save the world and unlock your favorite characters with this Ghostbusters Level Pack, which works with LEGO Dimensions systems. This game allows you to mix and match characters you own and unlock, which lets you take Ghostbusters characters into other franchises. It comes with three minifigs of Peter Venkman played by Bill Murray in the first two films, the Ecto-1 from those movies and a ghost trap, which he uses to catch ghosts. All three of those minifigs work with the toy pad that is part of the Dimensions game.
Designed to work with the systems that are compatible with XBOX One, PS4 and other consoles, it gives you full access to your characters and a new story based around the Ghostbusters flicks. Called A Spook Central Adventure, it takes all the excitement to Central Park. Peter needs to run around the park and both find and trap all the wayward ghosts. You’ll need to use the vehicle to get around the park and use the character to investigate noises. With the included ghost trap, you can use Peter to catch all those ghosts too.
LEGO Dimensions is a video game series that lets you live out the action from your favorite films. With this story pack, you can explore the modern world of Ghostbusters and play through the whole film. This set comes with LEGO bricks and a minifig of the Ecto-1 along with a second minifig of Abby, played by Melissa McCarthy in the film. When you build the Zhu’s Chinese Restaurant set from the movie with the bricks, you add an extra touch of fun to the game. This set recreates one of the scenes from the film and comes complete with LEGO jars and other accessories as well as the Ghostbusters logo.
Designed to work with the LEGO Dimensions system, this set allows you to place Abby or the Ecto-1 on the LEGO toy pad and unlock new levels within that game. You’ll have the chance to play six levels that recreate the action-packed scenes from the Ghostbusters movie as Abby and her friends save the world from ghosts. Once you finish those six levels, you unlock a new feature that lets you mix and match the Ghostbusters characters with other characters you own to play with up to three people.
