30449: The Milano Minibuild Review

As predicted the mini Milano set which recently popped up on the Toys R Us website is currently available for free when you spend £15 or more on LEGO® Marvel Super Heroes products at Toys R Us or you can pick up the minibuild polybag on its own for just £4.99. We popped along to Toys R Us to grab one for our collection and we today we take a closer look at this mini new Marvel set based on the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2.

Product Description

Have lots of construction and building fun with the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Guardians of the Galaxy The Milano. Embark on an exciting cosmic adventure with this micro-scale version of Star-Lord’s Milano spaceship from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, featuring six adjustable wings and engines.

  • Micro-scale The Milano spaceship
  • The Milano features 6 adjustable wings
  • Pieces: 64

This is the third time Star-lord’s ship has appeared in LEGO form, after first being released as a Minifigure-scale back in 2014 and again this year. This new mini version may be a little smaller than its playset counterparts but it’s still a decent representation of the Milano.

As you can see the ship uses the same colour scheme as the more recent version of the Milano from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 range of sets. It even has the little disc detail on the right wing, represented here by a azur coloured stud.

The iconic trio of wings on each side of the ship are recreated with a series of blue and grey angle plates, cleverly connected to the main body of the Milano with a fairly rare Technic beam element, which has three ball joints so the connecting wings can be angled independently to each other.

Having built all three version of the Milano now, I think this could be my favourite. Despite the smaller scale, it looks just like the Milano. All the detail of the ship has been captured with a minimal of elements, with the wings being a particular highlight. If you get a chance to grab this set then it will make a cool addition to your LEGO collection.
